I. THE PRESENCE OF SIN (ROMANS 5:12-14)
A. The Entrance of Sin (Rom. 5:12a): Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world
1) The Original Sin: Sin entered the world through Adam’s disobedience
2) The Pervasiveness of Sin: Sin is an undeniable fact in all our lives
3) The Naturalness of Sin: We don’t have to learn to sin; it comes naturally

B. The Effect of Sin (Rom. 5:12) and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned
1) Death Enters the Scene: Death entered the world through sin
2) Physical and Spiritual Death: Physical and spiritual death as a result of sin

C. The Evaluation of Sin (Rom. 5:13-14): 13 (For until the law sin was in the world: but sin is not imputed when there is no law. 14 Nevertheless death reigned from Adam to Moses
1) Pre-Law Presence of Sin: Sin was present in the world before the law was given
2) Death Reigned: Death reigned over humanity from Adam to Moses, even over those who had not sinned after the similitude of Adam’s transgression

II. THE PROVISION OF SALVATION (ROMANS 5:15-21)
A. The Contrast of People: v.15 For if through the offence of one many be dead, much more the grace of God, and the gift by grace, which is by one man, Jesus Christ, hath abounded unto many.
1) Adam: brought condemnation through sin and disobedience
2) Christ: brings justification through salvation and obedience

B. The Contrast of Possessions:
1) Condemnation vs. Justification v.16 And not as it was by one that sinned, so is the gift: for the judgment was by one to condemnation, but the free gift is of many offences unto justification.
2) Death vs. Life V.17 For if by one man’s offence death reigned by one; much more they which receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus Christ.)
3) Disobedience vs. Obedience v.19 For as by one man’s disobedience many were made sinners, so by the obedience of one shall many be made righteous.
4) Law vs. Grace v.20 Moreover the law entered, that the offence might abound. But where sin abounded, grace did much more abound:

C. The Contrast in Positions
1) Where sin reigns unto death, salvation by grace reigns through righteousness unto eternal life by Jesus Christ our Lord (Romans 5:21)
