The Peril of Riches
James 5:1-6
I. An Attitude of Deception (1-3b) –
A. Their Character (1a) – Go to now, ye rich men.
B. Their Confusion (1) – Go to now, ye rich men, weep and howl for your miseries that shall come upon you.
C. Their Corruption (2-3a) – Your riches are corrupted, and your garments are motheaten. [3] Your gold and silver is cankered;
Matt.6:19-20 –
D. Their Culmination (3b) – and the rust of them shall be a witness against you, and shall eat your flesh as it were fire.

II. An Agenda of Despair (3c-6) –
A. Motivated by Insecurity (3c) – Ye have heaped treasure together for the last days.
B. Marked by Insensitivity (4a) – Behold, the hire of the labourers who have reaped down your fields, which is of you kept back by fraud, crieth:
C. Measured by Sovereignty (4b) – and the cries of them which have reaped are entered into the ears of the Lord of sabaoth.
D. Manipulated by Gluttony (5) – Ye have lived in pleasure on the earth, and been wanton; ye have nourished your hearts, as in a day of slaughter.
E. Managed by Hostility (6) – Ye have condemned and killed the just; and he doth not resist you
