Zech 7:7-14

I. The Imperative of Inner Transformation
A. The Inner Work of Justice
1. The Inner Judge (V.9): Execute true judgment, and show mercy and compassion to every man to his brother.
2. The Inner Advocate (V.10): And oppress not the widow, nor the fatherless, the stranger, nor the poor.
3. The Inner Watchman (V.10): And let none of you imagine evil against his brother in your heart.

B. The Inner Enemy of Disobedience
1. The Hardening of Our Hearts (V.11): But they refused to hearken, and pulled away the shoulder.
2. The Dangers of Ignoring God’s Voice (V.11): And stopped their ears, that they should not hear.

II. The Consequences of Callousness
A. The Reality of God’s Wrath
1. The Silence of God (V.13): So they cried, and I would not hear, saith the LORD of hosts.
2. The Scattering of His People (V.14): But I scattered them with a whirlwind among all the nations whom they knew not.*
3. The Desolation of the Land (V.14): Thus the land was desolate after them, that no man passed through nor returned.
