What to Expect

What to Expect

Visiting a new church can be intimidating. We get it. We try our best to make it easier. We will meet you at the door with a greeting, a bulletin, and a welcoming smile. We gather every Sunday morning to praise God.

You’ve got questions. We’ve got answers – hopefully, to most of your questions – which you’ll find below. But please do not hesitate to talk with the ushers or deacons, the pastor, or folks in your pew if you need more information.

 WHAT TO EXPECT

Welcome to Lowerytown Missionary Baptist Church! (LMBC)  Whether you’ve attended church all your life, have just moved to this area, haven’t been to church in years, or have never been to church and are seeking God for the first time, we are glad you are visiting our website. Please feel free to look around and read all about who we are. Anyone is welcome to come to any of our services; and to help you get to know us a little better, we’ve put together some answers to commonly asked questions that visitors may have.

A Welcoming Atmosphere

When you visit LMBC for the very first time, you will be welcomed at the door by one of our members. During the service, you will have the opportunity to participate in God-centered worship through prayer and song and listen to our pastors give a sermon from the Bible. We believe in expository preaching which firmly grounds the teaching and life application of the sermon in the text of Scripture. If you have children, you will find age-graded programs that operate during all of our meeting times, giving your children an opportunity to be enriched spiritually by our loving staff.  After the service, you will have an opportunity to visit with our pastor and ask any questions that you may have.

Where do I park?

There is parking beside the church and just past the church in a parking lot. We reserve a few spots for those with mobility challenges.

 A Typical Sunday Morning Service

Our Sunday morning worship begins at 11:00 am and lasts approximately an hour. Although our order of service may vary from week to week, we generally open with a brief time of welcome and announcements, followed by 20-25 minutes of worship through song, prayer, and giving (Participating in the offering is for our regular attenders), as we prepare our hearts for the preaching of the Word, which is our primary focus. The center-point of our service is the preaching of the Word of God by our Pastor. The Gospel of Jesus Christ and the doctrines of God’s Word are preached in the power of the Spirit of God.

The sermon will conclude with an “Invitation,” in which our Pastor will give people an opportunity to come forward for a few moments of prayer or spiritual direction. If you would like to become a Christian, make a spiritual decision, or become a member of the church, this is the perfect opportunity! Simply step from your seat into the aisle and make your way to the front.

Sunday School

Our Sunday school hour begins at 9:45 am. Classes are available for all ages. Greeters at our Welcome Center (located just inside the main entrance of the church) will be happy to assist you with additional information.

 Sunday Evening

Our Descipleship Training hour begins at 5:00 pm. Classes are available for all ages.

Our Sunday Evening Worship hour begins at 6:00 pm. We generally open with a brief time of welcome and announcements, followed by 20-25 minutes of worship through song, prayer, and giving (Participating in the offering is for our regular attenders), as we prepare our hearts for the preaching of the Word, again this is our primary focus.

Music and Worship

Scripture confirms the significant role of music in the personal and corporate expression of worship. Corporate worship in our services represents the cumulative expression of wholehearted devotion to God that naturally results from each individual’s lifestyle of worship.  Music helps us to express our love, devotion, and thanksgiving to God, and in the process, to deepen our understanding of Him. In our worship services, we sing the great songs of the faith from hymnals and enjoy beautiful music from our choir, talented soloist, and groups. Our worship style would be considered traditional.

Childcare

Childcare is provided during our services

 Student Ministries

LMBC offers comprehensive youth programs for all ages.

 Dress Code

Those who join us in worship dress both casually as well as more formally. There is no established code of dress, although modesty in attire is expected, so as not to distract from our primary purpose of worshiping our God and Savior Jesus Christ. Our ministry leaders and many of our church family dress in more traditional “Sunday” dress; however, our main goal is that you would feel welcome and comfortable on your visit here at LMBC

Is the church accessible for those with mobility?

The church is handicapped accessible at the front entrance.
