FROM FORGIVEN TO VICTORIOUS
1 John 2:12–14

I. THE FOUNDATION OF OUR FAITH — WE ARE FORGIVEN “I write unto you, little children, because your sins are forgiven you for his name’s sake.” — 1 John 2:12

Core Biblical Truth: Before we can grow strong in Christ, we must first be reconciled to Christ; salvation begins with the forgiveness of our sins through Jesus Christ.

II. THE DEVELOPMENT OF OUR FAITH — WE ARE GROWING

Core Biblical Truth: Salvation is the beginning of the Christian journey, not the conclusion; those who belong to Christ are called to grow from spiritual childhood toward spiritual maturity.

A. THE CHILDREN KNOW THE FATHER “I write unto you, little children, because ye have known the Father.” — 1 John 2:13
B. THE YOUNG MEN KNOW THEIR FIGHT “Ye have overcome the wicked one.”
C. THE FATHERS KNOW THE LORD DEEPLY “Ye have known him that is from the beginning.”

III. THE POWER FOR OUR FAITH — WE ARE STRONG “I have written unto you, young men, because ye are strong, and the word of God abideth in you…” — 1 John 2:14

Core Biblical Truth: Spiritual strength comes when the Word of God abides within us, enabling us to stand against the wicked one and live victoriously for Christ.

C. THE SUCCESS OF OUR STRENGTH “Ye have overcome the wicked one.”

IV. THE PROGRESSION OF OUR FAITH — WE ARE MOVING FORWARD

Core Biblical Truth: God does not intend for believers to remain spiritually immature; He calls us to progress from knowing the Father to growing strong in the Word to knowing Christ deeply.

V. THE VICTORY OF OUR FAITH — WE ARE OVERCOMERS “Ye have overcome the wicked one.”

Core Biblical Truth: Because Jesus Christ has conquered sin, death, and Satan, those who belong to Him can live as victorious overcomers rather than defeated victims.
